What we do
Research
We design materials whose most useful properties are ones no single component possesses — toughness, responsiveness, self-repair, motion.
The work runs from synthesis through self-organization to application: we make the parts, study what emerges when they assemble, and build the result into technologies for health, energy, sensory augmentation and self-expression. Every project below sits somewhere across the lab's three themes, and the colored bar under each title shows where.
